Defense First: Knighthawks Shut Down Swarm, 11-4

The Rochester Knighthawks (6-5) gained valuable breathing room in the East Division by shutting down the Georgia Swarm (4-7) for an 11-4 road win at Infinite Energy Center on Friday night.

Knighthawks goalie Matt Vinc allowed two goals in each half, with second-quarter and fourth-quarter shutouts, to finish with 53 saves on 57 shots. Joe Walters led the way with six points (3+3) while Dan Dawson (2+2) and Cody Jamieson (1+3) both contributed four points.

Rookie Chad Tutton had two goals for the Swarm with Lyle Thompson and Joel White adding the other two Georgia tallies. Brodie MacDonald and Zach Higgins combined for 39 stops on 50 shots in the losing effort.

Rochester has now won three of its last four games while Georgia is on a three-game slide after opening its five-game homestand with six of the team’s last eight games at home.
