Former Nll Commissioner Jim Jennings Passes Away At Age 53

Jennings served as league’s commish for eight years from 2000-2009

Former National Lacrosse League Commissioner Jim Jennings passed away on Sunday at the age of 53 after a four-year battle with cancer. Jennings was appointed the league’s Commissioner in September 2000 and served for eight seasons before stepping down in January 2009. After leaving the NLL, Jennings formed his own consulting company.

During his tenure as the third Commissioner in league history, the league enjoyed expansion to western markets and increased television exposure under his leadership.

“Jim had a dynamic, charismatic personality who brought a great deal of energy into everything he did,” said NLL Commissioner George Daniel. “I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his family.”

Prior to his time with the NLL, Jennings served in a marketing role for the New York Cosmos soccer team and was also involved in the United States Basketball League and Continental Basketball Association.
