Mammoth Signs Crawford To Three-Year Deal

The Colorado Mammoth have announced the team has agreed to terms with forward Callum Crawford, who was considered to be one of the most prized unrestricted free agents on the market this offseason. The 10-year veteran signed a three-year contract with the Mammoth.

Crawford, who has scored 208 goals and 368 assists in 135 career games, posted 70-plus points in five straight seasons before injuries limited him to just 12 games in 2015.

“Our offense just got a lot better,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “Callum has been one of the most dominant righties in the National Lacrosse League for years, and we expect him to bring out the best in his teammates.”

That’s what Crawford did for the last six seasons with the Swarm. The 30-year-old Ottawa, Ontario native leaves the Swarm as the franchise’s all-time leader in goals (142), assists (282), and points (424).

Crawford’s 95 points in 2013 were fourth-most in the NLL. Three years prior, number-98 posted 96 points, third in the league.

“As a player who’s been in the league for as long as I have, since I’ve come in, I’ve heard nothing but incredible things from players about how amazing it is to be a member of the Mammoth,” said Crawford. “I truly believe this team can win. I want to win a championship. I hope I can be a piece that helps this team win a championship.”

The Colorado Mammoth also announced the signing of defenseman Mat MacLeod, who returns to the team after a one-year hiatus. MacLeod scored 26 goals for Colorado from 2012 to 2014, and has agreed to terms on a one-year deal.

Colorado has also signed free agents Zak Boychuk (goaltender) and Taylor Northway (defense) to one-year contracts. Boychuk was on the Mammoth roster for a short stretch during the 2015 season.
