Mammoth’S Crawford Named ‘Air Canada Wingman’ For Week 3

The National Lacrosse League has announced Colorado Mammoth forward Callum Crawford as the “Air Canada Wingman of the Week” award winner for Week 3 of the 2016 NLL season.

Crawford posted nine assists, the most by an NLL player in a single game so far this season, in Colorado’s 15-14 overtime home win over Buffalo last Saturday as the Mammoth improved to 3-0 on the year to remain undefeated.

The 31-year-old from Ottawa, Ont., acquired by Colorado this past offseason as one of the league’s most coveted free agents, ranks tied for the league lead in assists (18) and tied for second in the NLL in points (23). Crawford’s five goals rank tied for 14th in the league leaderboard while his 13 loose balls are tied for 16th-most among NLL forwards.

Crawford spent the last six seasons with the Swarm where he posted five-straight 70-plus point seasons before an injury-shortened 2015, and finished as the Swarm’s all-time leader in goals, assists and points. The 10-year NLL veteran, who played collegiately at Dowling College, was selected in the second round (18th overall) of the 2005 NLL Draft and was named to the NLL All-Pro Second Team in 2013.

Air Canada is the Official Airline Partner for the NLL. Each week, an NLL player will receive the “Air Canada Wingman of the Week” award based on their performance on the turf with respect to passing prowess and playmaking abilities. The weekly award winners will be entered into the pool of finalists for the “Air Canada Wingman of the Year” award at the end of the season.

Week 1) John Grant, Jr. – Colorado Mammoth
Week 2) Kiel Matisz – Georgia Swarm
Week 3) Callum Crawford – Colorado Mammoth
