Nll Top 50 Players

The IL Indoor countdown of the Top 50 Players in the National Lacrosse League has crowned Rochester Knighthawks star forward Cody Jamieson as the #1 player in the game today. The 2014 NLL MVP, who led the league in scoring last year with 108 points (36+72) as one of the sport’s most clutch performers, can score highlight-reel goals and dish out key assists with the best of them while his team more often than not gets the win. Jamieson’s Knighthawks will seek a fourth-straight Champion’s Cup title when the 2015 NLL season opens the first weekend of January.

IL Indoor contributors Bob Chavez, Stephen Stamp and Marty O’Neill collaborated with their own Top 50 lists for a points system that produced the final rankings. Click the link for the player to read their full analysis on Inside Lacrosse.

1) Cody Jamieson – Rochester Knighthawks

“Jammer is the complete offensive package. He is a deadly shooter, especially crossing the top of the slot toward his off-side, from where he is the most dangerous shot in the game. He makes those around him better with his draw and dish game and his floor vision. Jamieson has both the agility to find holes in the defence and the strength to bull his way to the net to create scoring chances. He’s a determined competitor and has a very high lacrosse IQ. He’s also a clutch performer, as his spate of MVP awards from both the NLL and summer lacrosse attest. Jamieson elevated his already outstanding game another notch last year and left little question that right now, he’s the best in the world.” – Stephen Stamp

“There are some big names in our Top 15 so it it a real accomplishment for Jamieson to reach this status after only 4 years in the league. So what’s the scoop? A incredible desire to get to the net and score. In doing so, Cody draws doubles, slides, penalties and opens up his teamates. His low center of gravity makes him the most dangerous ball carrier in pro ball. Tally up some outside shooting skills and passing smarts and you have a dynamic threat who also brings consistency and amped up big game volume. I like Cody’s grit. He’s not the biggest guy but it never stops him from coming at all types of defenders. Three titles in last 3 years and another two Mann Cups for this 4-year professional about says it all.” – Marty O’Neill

“It’s got to be frustrating to mark Jamieson, know what he’s going to do and still be helpless to stop it. But that’s exactly what he does. He’s a leader in more ways that one, walking the walk and talking the talk. He came into this league as an elite player with a limited array of looks and it was scary to think of how good he’d become if he could add to it. Well, he did add to it and that’s what we’re witnessing every time he’s on the floor. Inside, outside, juking, set pieces. He scores himself, and helps teammates score, from a variety of scenarios and that’s what makes him the toughest scoring option in the game today.” – Bob Chavez
