Roughnecks Re-Sign Nll Leading Goal Scorer Dobbie For Four Years

51-goal scorer agrees to long-term contract with West-champion Calgary

The Calgary Roughnecks have announced the team has re-signed forward Dane Dobbie, the leading goal scorer in the National Lacrosse League last season, to a four-year contract agreement.

“I came into the league as a Roughneck and I want to remain a Roughneck,” Dobbie said. “Calgary is a great city with great lacrosse fans. We have a very good team and I am excited to continue to be part of the organization and this city for the next four years.”

Dobbie, a native of Elora, Ontario, recently finished this seventh season with the Roughnecks, recording a league-leading 51 goals and adding 39 assists for 90 points over 18 games played.  The 27-year-old forward appeared in all seven post-season games, including two 10-minute mini-games, during the Roughnecks’ bid for the 2014 Champion’s Cup.  He led the NLL with three power goals during that span and finished the 2014 playoffs with 12 goals and eight assists.

“Dane has proven himself as a consistent top goal scorer in the league,” said Roughnecks general manager Mike Board.  “He is a player that has passion and who has grown to be a leader on our team.  He is setting down roots in Calgary so it was a natural fit to work out a long-term agreement that keeps a unique player like Dane a Roughneck for the next four years. We expect him to continue to be a major contributor on our offence now and in the future.”

Calgary selected Dobbie in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft.  Following his five-game rookie campaign, Dobbie has recorded five seasons with over 70 points, amassing 443 points (232 goals, 211 assists) in 91 games.  He was a member of the 2009 NLL championship team and has 33 goals and 65 points in 16 career playoff games.
