Stealth Re-Sign Two, Add Three More With Nll Free Agency Underway

Vancouver retains Pychel & Richardson, signs Burton, Rae & C. Wiles

The Vancouver Stealth have announced that the team has re-signed two returning players with one-year deals for defensemen Justin Pychel and Brad Richardson. The Stealth have also signed former Rochester Knighthawks defenseman Tyler Burton along with Caleb Wiles and Johnnie Rae. All five signings are pending league approval.

Burton, entering his fifth NLL season, played three years with the Knighthawks, winning two NLL Championships in 2012 and 2013. Last season, Burton spent time on the Edmonton Rush practice roster, playing in one game. The 25-year-old hails from London, Ontario.

Wiles, the younger brother of former Stealth star Luke Wiles, is looking to make a big impact in his first NLL season. The 26-year-old showed his offensive talents in the semi-pro lacrosse league, winning the top offensive player award last season scoring 32 points (17 goals, 15 assists) in just seven games. In 2013, Wiles took home Rookie of the Year honours tallying 63 points (35 goals, 28 points) in 12 games. The Orillia, Ontario native’s 35 goals were tied for the second highest in the league’s history.

Rae, originally drafted by the Colorado Mammoth in 2010, hopes to bring some toughness to the Stealth lineup. The 24-year-old defenseman played Junior ‘A’ Lacrosse in his hometown of Barrie, Ontario.

Richardson, 28, played in four games for the Stealth last season winning 36.6 percent of his faceoffs, and collected nine loose balls. Pychel, 22, played in nine games last season, picking up his first ever NLL point.
