Rees was drafted by the Knighthawks in the team’s first Entry Draft in 2019. Selected second overall in 2019, he was the first-ever draft pick of the new Knighthawks franchise. He ranks second in the franchise all-time for games played, third in loose-ball recoveries (455), second in caused turnovers (83), and fourth in blocked shots (46).This past season, Rees battled with injury and only played in one game, in March, before moving back to IR.

One of Rochester’s alternate captains, he was the Knighthawks’ team defensive MVP each of his first three seasons.

In addition to playing in the NLL, Rees also played in the Premier Lacrosse League. Originally drafted into Major League Lacrosse by the Boston Cannons in 2019, Rees played eight seasons of pro field lacrosse as a long stick midfielder. A two-time all-star, he won a championship with the Waterdogs in 2022.
Before getting drafted, Rees played his college ball at Stony Brook, where he was a two-time team captain. In his senior year, he earned America East Defender of the Year honors after scooping up 40 ground balls and causing 16 turnovers. He played his Junior ‘A’ ball in Port Coquitlam.
